Research Areas
The Integrating Design, Engineering, and Analysis (IDEA) Lab is led by Dr. Daniel M. Aukes. His research investigates the nexus of design, manufacturing, and data-driven decision-making to develop robots that can operate in niche environments, with a focus on affordability and accessibility. IDEALab projects focus on new tools for designing robots by pairing emerging fabrication techniques and new materials with analytical and simulation-based methods for understanding the behavior of these complex systems.
Design
We make new tools surrounding design.
Manufacturing
We pioneer new manufacturing technologies to build dynamic, affordable, ultra-capable robots.
Analysis
We embed analysis into the design process, so you know what will happen before you make it
